Overcome is built from two worlds. The ring mass, midnight blue and arctic blue glazes with honey flux, electric fired to cone 5, forms the weight, the pull, the enclosure. Inside it, two pale ceramic eggs fired in a pit, their surfaces marked by smoke and earth rather than kiln chemistry. One of the eggs broke. It has been repaired in kintsugi, gold at the fracture, held together and made more visible by the breaking. Overcome maps the cyclical nature of depression through the yin and yang of weight and relief: the rings grasp and pull, the air grows lighter, but the shadow never fully lifts. The egg holds its ground. Made in 2025, this piece arrives with the clarity of a decade of practice behind it and the kintsugi egg at its center as proof that survival and beauty are not separate things.
